pdfFactory, pdfFactory Pro and FinePrint are available as Server Editions (SE) designed for use in a network environment. With hundreds of thousands of server based installations, SE is a proven solution for enabling PDF creation and efficient printing to any number of users in an organization.
Server Edition has the following features:
Centralized Installation: Install SE on a Windows server, and any user can install by connecting to a shared printer. Admin access to the workstation is not required with SE.
Centralized Updates: When a new version of SE is installed on the server, client users are automatically updated to the new version.
Network Client Support: SE supports clients running Windows Vista, XP, 2000 and NT including laptops and Terminal Server/Citrix clients.
Shared configuration: Common settings can be placed on the server for propagation to workstations. For example, PDF security parameters or letterheads saved on the server will be copied to workstations or thin clients.
License management: SE ensures license compliance and allows monitoring and control of license usage on a single server or a group of connected servers.
The number of SE licenses to purchase is based on the number of users that will access SE through the network. Licensing is not concurrent nor is it based on the number of servers.
Examples:
Server Edition products fully support Windows Terminal Server and Citrix Metaframe environments. Our products support full desktop sessions as well as single application, published application, and seamless application sessions. No special setup is required.
System Requirements: Windows NT, 2000, XP, 2003 Server, 2008 Server.
To install Server Edition on a server:
System Requirements: Windows Vista, XP, 2000, NT.
Client installation using SE requires connecting to the shared network printer, installed as above on the server. Client connection to the shared printer can be done via Network Neighborhood or the Add Printer Wizard in the Printers folder.
When Server Edition is installed on your server, the connected clients are automatically updated with the new version. These updates are performed only when the client computer is rebooted or when a new user is logged on.
SE can be easily removed from either a client workstation or a server by any of the following methods:
