AVG for Linux protects workstations and servers running Linux OS including mail servers working on the same platform. The requirements to run AVG for Linux are: a Linux distribution with glibc-2.2.4-13 and libstdc++libc6.2-2 libraries or newer.The program is distributed as the .RPM package or the .tar.gz package - no specific Linux distribution is necessary. For proper operation of the resident shield the open-source component Dazuko is required.
AVG for Linux / FreeBSD Email Servers
In addition to the workstation / server version, the email server edition includes the ability to connect the AVG scanning engine to email servers.The scanning engine runs as a deamon listening ton a preconfigured TCP port. It is possible to define the number of deamons that will run. Clients connect to a deamon and check files or directories using a simple protocol.
